A Guide to Summertime in Teton Village

Teton Village is a renowned ski resort located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, just outside of Grand Teton National Park. People visit every winter to ski and board, and to indulge in some of the best apres-ski antics. But Teton Village is just as busy in the summertime.

In the summer, Teton Village is a little piece of paradise for anyone and everyone. Surrounded by green mountains and blue skies, the village is a hub of activities—both of the extreme and leisurely type. Mountain bikers and paragliders flock here on clear days to use the mountain. An array of shops and restaurants attract anyone looking for a slow afternoon. The village also hosts concerts and events throughout the summer to keep things lively.

There’s really so much to do in the village, you could easily spend your whole vacation here without ever leaving (although it would be a shame not to visit Grand Teton). Here’s my advice for the best way to spend a day in Teton Village this summer:

Have Breakfast at the RMO Café

Start your morning by filling up with a hardy a breakfast. The Rocky Mountain Oyster (RMO) Café is part of the Mangy Moose emporium, and it’s only open for breakfast and lunch. The menu is filled with your breakfast favorites, like pancakes, french toast, and eggs. It’s also a great place to grab a cup of coffee.

Go for a Hike or Hire a Mountain Bike

You may not be able to ski down the mountain in the summer, but you can still use the ski lifts and trails. Go for a hike up or down the mountain (the lifts can meet you halfway) and get some of the best views of the Jackson Hole Valley. For something a little more adrenaline-pumping, rent a mountain bike and hit the trails. And check out the bike park opening this summer!

Have Lunch at One of Many Great Restaurants

Teton Village is filled with a variety of wonderful restaurants, so take your pick when it’s time for lunch. Try out some Thai food at Teton Thai, head to the Alpenhof Bistro, or have a casual lunch at Nick’s Cowboy Café.

Check out the Shops

No matter what you’re looking for, you’ll find a shop in the village to suit your needs. Anything active or sports related can be found at Teton Village Sports. Stylish clothing and accessories are a staple at Rodeo. The General Store stocks all of your basic needs and convenience items. The Gift Shoppe at the Mangy Moose emporium has all of the t-shirts and souvenirs you might need for friends and family (or yourself).

Take a Ride on the Bridger Gondola

The Bridger Gondola is open throughout the day in the summertime, offering rides up or down for hikers & visitors. The small gondolas take you up the mountain to Rendezvous Lodge. It’s not quite at the top of the mountain, but it does sit about 9,000 feet up. Better yet, the Bridger Gondola is free starting at 5 pm, making it a much cheaper alternative to the Aerial Tram.

Stay for a Bite at the Rendezvous Lodge/The Deck

At the top of the gondola at the Rendezvous Lodge, you’ll find The Deck @ Piste. The patio of the lodge fills up with tables, chairs, and people on summer evenings. It’s a popular happy hour spot and food is also served. There’s often a live band playing, so dancing and good times are always had.

Enjoy a Concert on the Commons

On some evenings in the summer, concerts are held in the village center. A stage is set up, bands play, and the whole village is alive with music. People come to drink and dance and enjoy the atmosphere. Bring a chair or towel and sit on the lawn, or just roam around while the music plays.

End Your Day at the Mangy Moose

The Mangy Moose Saloon is well known in Jackson Hole as the best apres-ski locale. The spirit continues in the summertime. Head to the saloon to end your day with a margarita, a  beer, or just some good food.
