Cafe Panama // Wellington, NZ

Check my Wellington Guide for more cafes and restaurants.

I stumbled across Cafe Panama while wandering around Wellington with my friend. We were originally looking for a dessert cafe my friend had heard about, but when we found it, it was closed. So we just kept walking.

Still hungry, we kept our eyes out for somewhere to stop. I didn’t recognize anything around us, but we both noticed the same cafe immediately, and decided to go in.

Cafe Panama is a cute cafe with a big window front that draws you in. Inside, it feels like you’ve stepped into a greenhouse. The design is slightly industrial, with cement floors and high ceilings with exposed metal rafters. The giant window front is decorated like a big terrarium: plants, driftwood, and little rocks sit on shelves.

Everything on the menu sounded delicious. I had only planned to get a chai latte (which I did), but I added a fresh banana almond muffin to my order. The atmosphere was laid-back, and the coffee/food was delicious. I feel lucky to have stumbled by this place. If I move to Wellington, this will definitely be my daily cafe.
